Waking up to a kiss on my forehead from my mother was never a routine for me. I never received affection from my mother. Growing up, my grandmother was my motherly figure; furthermore, my grandma was the one that raised me. The only what so called " mother" around was my grandmother: my mother was always working. I know she was working to give us a better life but sometimes it felt like we did not exist. I would wish every time for her to be home or at-least receive a hug from her. Because she was never around I started building this resentment. The resentment created by her never being around, greatly influenced my attitude towards my mother.
My attitude towards my mother was rude. I saw my mother as if she gave birth to me but not my mother. I was really rude to her. For many years my behavior was really upsetting to my mother. I never took knowledge of what she had to say or what she wanted me to do. I never had any respect for her. From my point of view she did not deserve any of my respect. The only respect that I had was for and is for my grandmother. My attitude was so rude that I always referred to her by her name.
As I grew older I became more rude to her. I came to a point where I could not understand why I had so much hate towards her. Just seeing her presence irritated me. There were times I just went off at her for any reason: I felt she deserved it.
Eventually after making it through high school I started seeing things different. I noticed how hard she worked to give us a better life. I stared realizing that yes maybe she was never with us but she kept putting the food on the table. After looking back, I regret many hurtful things i have said to her: just thinking about she had to deal with my behavior for more than 15 years. Now I know that she did everything for the best of all and I now say I LOVE HER.

Family
Family is what makes a home. Most of the population are blessed with a family, but there are a few that lack a family. I can say that family is what makes a house a home. A house can not be a home if it lacks the family's warmth.
We should not take our family for granted. Many of us take our families for granted not thinking of things like how in matter of seconds a family can be destroyed. We believe that things that will affect a family will not happen to them.
The family is the only group of people you can always rely on no matter what. Your family is going to be with you through thins and thicks. A lot of people you might consider close and loyal but in reality no one is more loyal than your own family. You might mess up but your family is always going to accept you.
When the world turns its back to you, your family always going to have their arms open for you. Sometimes you harshly criticize your family but the love received from your loved ones is unconditional. Family love is way different from friend's love.
Every time there is a problem you can always count on your family. Family is always going to help even if its a little bit but they going to help. The great thing about a family is that they do not expect anything in exchange. Help is always going to be handed in exchange of nothing. They help because they do not want you to suffer. Family will always try to make it easier for you; furthermore, they are never going to make it harder on you.
Live to the fullest with your family. Once again we should not take our family for granted. Family is what make us go forward instead of backwards. Love given is priceless. Take advantage of what you have now because we never know what is going to happen the day of tomorrow.

Interview With Darlene
My classmate's name is Darlene Raquedan. Darlene is a 19 year old college student; she just graduated from Channel Islands High School this past year. Darlene's family consists of four family members, including herself; one younger brother, one younger sister, and her mother. This four member family lives in an apartment.
Becoming a nurse is Darlene's dream; furthermore, she is also interested in theaters arts. She is doing what she can to reach her goal; her first step was attending college. The parents' motivation helped her want to better herself. Also, Darlene has this passion to succeed. Becoming a someone, and making a difference is what she is really looking forward to.
Darlene's life can sometimes get a little hectic. Because her parents are not currently living together, it makes it harder for her. Struggling with coming back and forward with the parents sometimes can get frustrating. Because she lives with her mother, it affects Darlene even more; furthermore, she often has to step up and take the mother role. Besides taking the mother role, she feels that its important for her to set a great example to her younger siblings.

Texting
Is texting a habit or a necessity? For many people now a days, texting is a must. Most if not all portable devices, contain some sort of texting communication. Cell phone companies are currently developing new advanced cells that attract the buyers; furthermore, people like me, want to keep up with the improved technologies, and the variety of communication possibilities.
Talking over the phone is not often seen; in the other hand, you will see everyone with their texting phone typing. Its easier for us to text what we want to say rather than calling, and actually saying what you can write over a text. Texting is also a necessity because it can be done in matter of seconds. Sending a text can not really distract you, and can keep doing what you are doing. Not only teens use the application of text messaging, but adults also use this application. I would say that adults use their texting as much as teens but for different reasons; furthermore, teens text friends, and adults text regarding their business life. Texting is also a great necessity for most because the affordable range; furthermore, its cheap to get unlimited texted at a low cost: unlimited text messaging is cheaper than unlimited minutes.
Texting is not a new trend because it has been the new thing for quite some time already. Texting has become a great part of our lives; consequently, we rely on this application a lot more than needed.

Reality Shows
Our century is based on reality shows; furthermore, we the viewers, are more attracted to drama related shows rather fictional shows. Because the viewers are getting more hooked to these reality shows, there are more realistic shows premiering like Teen Mom.
What I like about these shows is that everything we see, we can relate in at least one way. Some reality shows help us get through tough situations or even experience new things. I also like how nothing about them is made up. Everything said and done is real; there is no acting involved. In the past, it was not often that we seen ordinary people with ordinary problems. Before there was the upgrade to reality, there was the insecurity of letting lose of those owns problems, and emotions.
There are few things i dislike about reality shows. The one thing that bothers me the most is that, in some reality shows they over do it with the drama. I believe its okay to be yourself but there are times a person has to control their actions. For example, Jersey Shore, its a very popular show but not for their good behavior. This specific reality show is a top rated show because of their crazy actions, and dramatic scenes. Shows like these are not leaving anything good for the young. Too many fights and drinking for some kids to handle. In a way it seems like they are giving bad examples to all the viewers. Even though the people from the reality shows are not famous actors, most of the viewers tend to idolize them.
Deciding wether this type of shows benefit or harm our society is quite a difficult question. The answers to this question can be endless from both point of views. Personally, I think that these types of shows both benefit and harm our society. The beneficiary sides to this question is that we get too see what is going on, ability to relate, and knowledge. The ability to see what is around us help us warn ourselves about risks out there in the world. Reality shows have the same problems that a normal person has; furthermore, we get to relate to people or situations out of the family. These shows also build a strong knowledge to the viewers. Things being said and done are always a new type of knowledge in some sort of way to a person. But reality also brings unnecessary drama, violence, and idolization. Some people pretend to be what they are not, and just bring too much drama. Sometimes unnecessary drama is not needed. Mostly all reality shows show some type of violence; furthermore, it gets too graphic at times, and it makes you think how they have the courage to show that on national television. This graphic violent actions make viewers idolize them; they idolize someone that in their point of view are doing the right things.
I would say that reality shows are not quite my guilty pleasure. I do like reality shows but i do not watch television that often; on the other hand, I can say that Facebook is my guilty pleasure.

Maricruz Marquez: Maricruz's Past, Present, and Future: "The 18 years of my existence have not been the most memorable of all; furthermore, i have had the same ups and downs like many others. I am ..."
Maricruz's Past, Present, and Future
The 18 years of my existence have not been the most memorable of all; furthermore, i have had the same ups and downs like many others. I am the middle child of three children. My older brother, Luis, is 22 years old, and my younger sister, Graciela, is 17 years old. My past does not bring a lot of good memories to me. I recall my childhood as a sad, and violent childhood. As a child I saw, and heard many things a child should not see, and hear at a such young age. Because my parents would always be fighting, my sister and I would always isolate ourselves. All we would hear was screaming and sometimes we would see our parents hit each other. The only comfort i had was my sister. I grew up with no comfort or appreciation from my parents. It was hurtful to never receive a hug or kiss from at least one of my parents. Because they knew they were never around, my parents believed that with buying us everything, everything was going to be okay. Our parents gave us everything and more than what we needed, but the one thing they were short of was love.
The lack of love has greatly impacted my present. Even though things have changed, I still feel an emptiness that was built when I was a child. Because of my past, I am an insecure girl. I am not comfortable with myself in all aspects. Attending college helps me forget about things. Unlike my childhood, now my parents are being really supportive. They show more appreciation, and for once i feel like I am making them proud. College is not the easiest thing for me right now, but I know its not impossible either. Doing my best in school is my number one priority right now. I am not worrying about my love life or anything else.
My past, and present are going to greatly influence my future. In the future I am going to be more aware, and more mature. The mistakes my parents once made are going to be a reminder to me. I want to accomplish many things; furthermore, I want to have a good education in order to have a good job. I want a job that its going to give me a flexible schedule to be both at work, and with the family. I see my future full of prosperity, and dreams. Also, in my future there is going to be my prince charming, a man that is going to be with me through the thins and thicks. I hope my future holds the best for me but only God knows what he has stored for us.
